DECnet/OSI for ULTRIX Year 2000 Readiness Kit
		=============================================

        Dear Customer:

You can use this software distribution to make your
DECnet/OSI for ULTRIX software "Year 2000 Ready" for
	       the following product version:

		   DECnet/OSI for ULTRIX V5.1A (RISC)

This kit contains a single subset, DNPBASE514, containing
copies of all executables and files in the DECnet/OSI
product set which need to be updated to become Y2K complient.

The modified files also contain all other patches which
were done prior to the Y2K changes.

The changes for Y2k complience were:

		* Correctly handle the dates associated with files
for the remote file access (dcat, dcp, dls, drm, fal,
dmkdir, ftpd.gw) utilities. Also, dls will display
		  4 digits for the year.

		* The event logger will now display years using 4 digits.

		* The following time provider examples have been modified:

			dtss_acts_provider.c
			dtss_hopf_provider.c
			dtss_traconex_provider.c

The acts and hopf examples were changed to interpret the
two digit years less that 90 as being being after 2000.

The Traconex example will not work correctly after the
year 1999, and the example was changed to force a
compilation error at the year processing code. If you are
using such a time provider, please contact Traconex for
any options that may be available for their hardware.

Note that you will need to recompile the time provider
executables, using the new code provided in this subset.

To provide backwards compatability, it is possible to force
the event logger (dnaevld) and dls to use 2 digit years
through the use of environmental variables. For dls, define
a variable called "DLS_2DIGIT_YEAR". For the event logger,
	       define a variable called "EVL_2DIGIT_YEAR".

Because this Y2K subset contains all the necessary fixes
for all DECnet/OSI subsets, please make sure you have
installed all desired subsets before installing this
subset (otherwise you will overwrite the Y2K fixes when
	       you install the additional subsets).
