What's new with DECmessageQ? ============================ The Version 3.2 release of DECmessageQ offers the most robust array of supported platforms ever and expanded support of DECmessageQ messaging clients on many new platforms. On April 15, 1996 Digital announced the following key enhancements to its industry-leading message queuing software: o Enhanced connectivity to IBM systems DECmessageQ Version 3.2 offers the following important new ways to exchange information with applications running on IBM systems: _ DECmessageQ MVS ClientEnables applications running on IBM MVS systems to use the DECmessageQ API to exchange information with applications running on all industry- leading platforms in a multivendor network. _ DECmessageQ MQSeries ConnectionOffers connectivity between applications using the IBM MQSeries message queuing product and Digital's DECmessageQ. MQSeries Connection provides software that forwards messages between DECmessageQ and MQSeries queues and performs the necessary transformation of message format between the two systems. _ DECmessageQ for OS/2 message server and clientProvides a full DECmessageQ server and messaging client for the IBM OS/2 environment. OS/2 applications use the same portable DECmessageQ API functions to connect to other applications in a multivendor network. o Support for Windows '95 and Windows NT messaging client The DECmessageQ Windows Client has expanded support to offer a 32-bit version of the Client Library to run on Windows '95 and Windows NT (Intel and Alpha) systems. A separate Client Library implementation is offers for the Windows 3.1 environment. o Improved performance and scalability DECmessageQ Version 3.2 offers applications a 20-50% improvement in messaging throughput over the previous version. DECmessageQ for Digital UNIX and DECmessageQ for OpenVMS have been benchmarked using Digital AlphaServer systems and have been shown to support more than 1,000 simultaneous connections from PCs or UNIX workstations.
