Compaq TSZ08 800/1600/6250 bpi Tape Drive

Reel-to-reel industry-standard data interchange

The ability to handle worldwide data interchange is the most important feature of the TSZ08 tape drive. For many years, 9track, phase-encoded, half-inch, ANSI-compatible tape drives have been the industry-standardÑaccepted by users and adopted widely by the computer industry.

Worldwide data interchange
The TSZ08 meets these standards and eases the process of critical data interchange in many governmental and business applications including

Front-loading, self-threading
The TSZ08 features a front-loading, self-threading design that makes tape-mounting as easy and fast as loading a floppy disk. The drive automatically seats the reel and threads the tape. If the tape fails to load properly, the drive then automatically reloads without operator intervention.

Benefits

Placement flexibility
You have a selection of drive enclosures from which to choose. There's a tabletop configuration that operates at a low noise level, ideal for a workstation user in an office environment. Also available is a rackmountable unit for mounting in your own 19" RETMA cabinet or factory mounted by Compaq. The tape transport occupies only 5.25" of vertical space.

A selection of reel sizes
Using the industry-standard 10.5-inch reel, up to 140 MB of formatted data can be stored at 6250 bpi in GCR format, or up to 40 MB at 1600 bpi in Phase Encoded format. Smaller reel sizesÑas small as six inchesÑalso fit the drives, so you can choose the size best suited to your job requirements.

Quality and reliability
The TSZ08 is a proven product developed and tested to meet your demanding quality and reliability standards.
