DESCRIPTION:   This release provides updated system ROM images
               for the latest maintenance releases of HP
               ProLiant DL740 Servers.

        ============================================

                Updated to integrate the latest Intel processor
		support code into the System ROM.  This works around an issue
		with the Intel Xeon processor that can result in erratic
		system behavior after prolonged usage.  The failures were
		identified in a small percentage of Intel Xeon processors
		during simulated long-term reliability testing.  These issues
		have only been seen in Intel's simulated environment, 
		and no field issues have been identified.  While the nature
		of the failure for systems experiencing this issue is difficult
		to quantify, systems may experience systems hangs,
		Windows blue screen, or Linux kernel panics.  
		HP recommends customers transition to this new BIOS version
		to prevent the aforementioned issues. 

 	   	Updated to add labeling for the HP NC7170 Gigabit
 	   	Server Adapter and SA6402 Smart Array under the PCI Devices
 	   	Menu in ROM-Based Setup.



HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.
The file that is downloaded is SP28217.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP28217 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to
create diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP28217.EXE if you wish.
