IMPORTANT: Windows 2000 does not currently support ATA-100 (Mode 5) for IDE hard drives. ATA-100 IDE hard drives that are used with Windows 2000 now default to ATA-66 (Mode 4). It is recommended that customers wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack (SP-2) that adds ATA-100 support. However, to resolve this issue immediately, customers can use this Softpaq. NOTE: After you apply this SoftPaq to your computer, you may notice an incorrect "PIO" value displayed on the Advanced Settings tab for an IDE device in Device Manager. This does not mean that the device is functioning in "PIO" mode. Windows 2000 is displaying an incorrect value. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. To install, read and follow the instructions provided with the software. 5. To create (optional) installation (or other deliverable) diskette(s) run MAKEDISK.BAT and follow the on-screen instructions. MAKEDISK.BAT is included only if installation diskette(s) creation is an option. 6. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory created in step 2 if you wish.
