Hardware Support Disk for Windows NT 4.0 with HAL rev. G - 7/26/99 ---------------------------------------------------------- This Hardware Support diskette supports installation of Windows NT V4.0 operating system on the following list of 21264 based Compaq Alpha systems. Compaq AlphaServer DS20 Compaq AlphaPC 264DP Compaq Professional Workstation XP1000 Notes: If your system has a DIGITAL KZPSA SCSI controller, you will require to use the deckzpsx.sys software driver that is included in this kit. If your system has an IDE CDROM, you will require to use the atapi.sys software driver that is also included in this kit. CAUTION: This version of HAL requires AlphaBIOS 5.70 or later. o To install this HAL during a fresh install of Windows NT 4.00. 1. During the Windows NT installation/upgrade you are prompted for your system name. Select "Other" and press Enter. 2. When prompted for a hardware support diskette, put the disk you just prepared in your diskette drive, and press Enter. 3. Select the correct system type. (Use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to scroll the entries.) 4. When NT 4.0 installation list the mass storage devices add in the ATAPI (IDE Driver) and the KZPSA driver as needed. a. To do this, type 'S' to specify additional mass storage devices. b. Then select "Other" from the list of available drivers and press "Enter". c. The computer will then look on the inserted floppy for the list of drivers. d. From this list, select the needed mass storage device driver. e. Repeat this step if both drivers are needed. 5. Proceed with the rest of the Windows NT installation/upgrade as usual. The floppy will need to remain in the computer until NT installation is finished copying the system files to the hard drive.
