Archives Last Updated: 14 February 2021 ================================================================================ This directory contains various archives of old stuff, mirrors and other junk. Contents: --------- ftp.*.com/ - various archived ftp servers (see below) Mirrored ftp servers: --------------------- Directory: Status: Orignal Location ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ftp.microsoft.com/ [PARTIAL ] ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/ ftp.cavedog.com/ [COMPLETE] ftp://ftp.cavedog.com/ ftp.digital.com/ [COMPLETE] ftp://ftp.digital.com/ ftp.esstech.com/ [COMPLETE] ftp://ftp.esstech.com/ ftp.alphant.com/ [COMPLETE] ftp://ftp.alphant.com/ ftp.compaq.com/ [COMPLETE] ftp://ftp.compaq.com/ ftp.sgi.com/ [PARTIAL ] ftp://ftp.sgi.com/ Notes: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mirroring [ NOTES ] -------------------------------------------- These directories are part of a set of mirrored websites and pages. A subset of the mirrored data may be found on http://192.168.0.192/. The full set of data is not available without authentication at this stage. ftp.microsoft.com/ [PARTIAL ] -------------------------------------------- This is a partial mirror of the Microsoft ftp server. It contains a full set of Knowledge Base articles in html format, the full Microsoft Software Library and various other files. For larger non-english directories have been omitted from the mirror. These include non-english WindowsNT service packs, exchange service packs and other such data. ftp.cavedog.com/ [COMPLETE] -------------------------------------------- This is a complete mirror of the cavedog ftp server. It contains data for Total Annihilation and other Cavedog/Humongous products. The file date/time attributes were not preserved during the mirroring process. As a result all file dates are stuck at some time during 2005. On the cavedog server, all file dates for /cavedog/ are set to 28/08/2003. Some files may also be corrupt due to a bug in the software used to download them. Any corrupt files found should be reported to: dgsoftnz@gmail.com Since the server was mirrored in 2005 the server was taken down once (it appears to be up now) and there have been some changes and additions to some files. As a result this mirror may not be completly up to date. As of 2008 ftp.cavedog.com appears to be gone for good. Since the above was written it disappeared again and after some time the domain was pointed at the Atari FTP server. ftp.digital.com/ [COMPLETE] -------------------------------------------- This is a complete mirror of Digital Equipment Corporations main FTP archive ftp.digital.com. The mirror was completed early December 2007. See the files in the digital-mirror-info directory for more details. ftp.esstech.com/ [COMPLETE] -------------------------------------------- This is a complete mirror of the ESS Technology FTP server. It contains drivers and software for ESS Technology chipsets (sound, modem, etc). ftp.alphant.com/ [COMPLETE] -------------------------------------------- This is a complete mirror of the AlphaNT Source websites FTP archive of software for Windows NT running on DEC Alpha systems. ftp.compaq.com/ [COMPLETE] -------------------------------------------- This was just a partial mirror primarily of DEC related files taken at 17:30 on 10-DEC-2007. On 11-JUL-2014 a complete snapshot was taken but this sat around in an incoming directory forgotten about. In the six years between the two mirrors a number of DEC-related files had been deleted. This new mirror preserves those files that were deleted from the earlier mirror. This makes it not a true snapshot of the server as it was on 11-JUL-2014. The files copied over from the earlier mirror are: /pub/archives/* /pub/products/AlphaCPUdocs/* /pub/products/fortran/* /pub/products/linuxdevtools/* /pub/products/math/* /pub/products/semiconductor-lit/* /pub/products/software/* /pub/products/workstations/* /pub/products/alphaserver/nt/fx32v1-5.exe /pub/softpaq/alphant/* ftp.sgi.com/ [PARTIAL ] -------------------------------------------- A complete mirror of ftp.sgi.com was created on a UNIX system keeping all of its symbolic links and files intact. However, symbolic links and some filenames are unsupported on the windows filesystem. As a result, the mirror available here is a subset of the original mirror consisting of everything that could be extracted on a windows volume. All symbolic links have been replaced with the files that they pointed to. At least the following files have been excluded entirely because their filenames are incompatible with NTFS: /graphics/grafica/x312/regdir/USR /sgi/indigo/Bencharms/?* /sgi/A|W/ gatekeeper.dec.com/ [PARTIAL ] -------------------------------------------- This mirror includes all of the smaller parts of the gatekeeper FTP archive. Excluded are the mirrors of things like cygwin, *BSD, etc. It was taken after HP started messing with the server so the HTML files that were once in the root directory were gone by the time this mirror was taken. The server itself has now been taken offline. ftp.netscape.com [UNKNOWN] -------------------------------------------- This mirror comes the internet archive: https://archive.org/details/ftp.netscape.com ftp.lokigames.com [UNKNOWN] -------------------------------------------- This mirror comes the internet archive: https://archive.org/details/ftp.lokigames.com SIMTELNET [UNKNOWN] -------------------------------------------- This mirror comes the internet archive: https://archive.org/details/simtelnet_bu_mirror_2013_04 garbo.uwasa.fi [UNKNOWN] ------------------------------------------- This mirror comes from the internet archive: https://archive.org/details/2012.11.24.ftp-garbo-mirror files.mpoli.fi [PARTIAL] ------------------------------------------- This mirror was taken from the original via FTP in late april 2022. It is complete except for the sekalaiset/ns0.sorbs.net directory which contained 2.6GB in over 800,000 files. The low value of these files combined with the sheer quantity (it would have nearly doubled the size of the FTP index files) made excluding them necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Goodwin
