Editing Recipients and Inviting Other Users

Edit Recipients/Invite Other Users Window Overview

This window is used to add or delete recipients from:

When adding or deleting alert or poll recipients, or forwarding a news channel message, the title of this window is “Edit Recipients.” When inviting other users to a current chat session, the title of this window is “Invite Users.” Other than the title difference, the functionality of the windows is the same.

The Edit Recipients/Invite Other Users window contains the following items:

To Edit Recipients to an Alert, Poll, or Forwarded News Channel Message

The Edit Recipients window is displayed when you click Edit Recipients on the following windows:

The Edit Recipients window is also displayed when you forward a news channel message.

The Edit Recipients window shows all the contacts in your contact list and the contacts (if any) you have already selected for the alert, poll, or news channel message that you are forwarding.

Follow these steps to add contacts to the Recipients List:

  1. If you know the user ID or name, do a quick search.
  2. Use the drop-down menu to choose either Name or User ID for type of search. Enter the name or user ID to search for in the text box, then click Add to Recipient List.

    If a match is found, it is added to the Recipient List. If more than one match is found, the Select Contact window is displayed, from which you can select the contacts. You can use multiple selection techniques in this window. Select the contacts in the Contact List and click Add. The Select Contact window is closed and the contacts are added to the Recipient List.   3. If you do not know the user ID or name, search the directory.
  4. Click Search to display the “Search for a user” window. See Searching for Contacts for more information.

  5. To remove a recipient, select the contacts from the Recipient List in the Edit Recipients window, and click Remove.
  6. When done searching for contacts in the Edit Recipients window, click OK.
  7. The Edit Recipients window is closed and the scrollable list box in the message or poll window is updated to reflect your changes.

To Invite Others to Chat

The Invite Other Users window appears when you click the Invite Others button in the Chat window. The Invite Other Users window shows all the contacts in your contact list, from which you can select and add contacts to the Recipient List. You can also search the LDAP directory for contacts.

Follow these steps to invite others to a chat that is currently in progress:

  1. If you know the user ID or name of the contact you want to invite, do a quick search.
  2. Use the drop-down menu to choose either Name or User ID for type of search. Enter the name or user ID to search for in the text box, then click Add to Recipient List.

    If a match is found, it is added to the Recipient List. If more than one match is found, the Select Contact window is displayed, from which you can select the contacts. Select the contacts in the Contact List and click Add. The Select Contact window is closed and the contacts are added to the Recipient List.   3. If you do not know the user ID or name, click Search to search the LDAP directory.
  4. The “Search for a user” window appears. See Searching for Contacts for more information.

  5. To remove a recipient, select the contacts from the Recipient List in the Invite Other Users window and click Remove.
  6. After creating the Recipient List, click OK.
  7. The Invite Other Users window is closed and the “Enter Invite message” pop-up window is displayed.
  8. Type the invite message and click OK. The message is sent to the users inviting them to chat, and the invited users appear in the Member List pane in the Chat window.
