Follow these directions to create a name service domain toolbox with the Solaris Management Console Toolbox Editor, and to place the appropriate tools in that toolbox. See Solaris Management Console Toolbox Editor Overview for more information about the Toolbox Editor.
Assumptions:
/usr/sadm/bin/smc edit&
Creating the toolbox:
The first panel of the New Toolbox wizard is displayed.
This name will be displayed in the Navigation pane tree and in the Console header if you open the toolbox from the Console.
The description should explain what the toolbox contains and what it is meant to be used for. This description will be displayed in the Open Toolbox dialog when the toolbox is selected for opening from the Console. The description will also be displayed in the Information pane of the Console when the toolbox is selected in the Navigation pane.
Or click Browse... to navigate to the appropriate folder and select the GIF images.
These icons will represent the toolbox in the Console -- the small icon in the Navigation pane, the large icon in the Information pane.
Choices are ldap, dns, nisplus, nis, or file.
This is the name service server -- smcserver1.eng, for example.
This is the domain to be managed -- eng.sun.com, for example. No domain is needed if "file" is the selected management scope.
The Full Name you entered above will be displayed in parentheses in the window title of the Toolbox Editor and in the Navigation pane.
Adding tools to the toolbox:
The first panel of the Tool Wizard is displayed.
This must be the name service server entered in Step 7 above.
If the Solaris Management Console server is running on the server you entered, a list of names is displayed in the Tools field. Select the tool you want from the list and the tool class name and description for the tool are filled in. See the context help if the server is not running.
If you wished to override the tool defaults, you could click Override and enter new Management Scope, Server, and Domain settings and click Next.
A generic "Tool" is displayed in the Solaris Management Console Toolbox Editor beneath the new toolbox item in the Navigation pane. The tool class name is displayed in parentheses after the word "Tool." If you select the tool in the Navigation pane, its properties are displayed in the View (right) pane
Saving the toolbox:
The Local Toolbox save dialog is displayed.
Change to another folder if you do not want to save the file in the folder shown in the Look in menu at the top of the dialog.
To change folders: double-click a folder icon in the list below the Look in menu; move up one folder by clicking the Open parent folder icon; move to your home folder by clicking the Go to home folder icon; or create a new folder by clicking the New Folder icon. The new folder is called NewFolder; if you click the New Folder icon again, the second folder is called NewFolder.1.
The Local Toolbox dialog is dismissed and the new toolbox is saved in a file with the name entered in Filename, with .tbx appended to the name.
