Userid (TCT)

DESCRIPTION
The "Userid" associated with an entry in the TCT Screen could either be a Sun MTP
userid from the Sign On Table or a system login userid. An entry can be for
a variety of Sun MTP terminal handler (TH) client and/or server processes.

VALUES
"Userid" displays a userid up to 8 characters. The "Userid" is most often the
system login userid of the user involved in a TCT entry. On UNIX systems,
the login userid is a value specified in the password file (usually /etc/passwd
or a similar NIS map file). On Windows NT systems, the system login userid
value can have up to 14 characters. However, only the first 8 characters are
displayed in the "Userid" value.

INTERPRETATION
There are more than a few types of Sun MTP THs and server processes, and the
"Userid" has a different meaning for each "Type" of TCT Screen entry:

3270 - "Userid" of the 3270 TH Initiator (unikixi)

EPI - "Userid" of the system process communicating to Sun MTP via the EPI
         protocol

Local - "Userid" running unikixl on the local machine

Remote - "Userid" running unikixs on a remote machine (or unnecessarily on the
         local machine)

TN3270 - "Userid" of the TN3270 Initiator (unikixtn)

TR - shows the "Userid" of the user on the remote region

CONCLUSIONS
Note that the "Userid" for a 3270 TH may be overridden by specifying a userid
to VTAM or XPUx when linking up to a Sun MTP system. This case and a TR's
"Userid" (where the "Userid" comes from CICS/Sun MTP) are the only cases where
the "Userid" is not an operating system userid.
