TX Servers (Overview)

DESCRIPTION
"TX Servers" displays the number of Transaction Servers available for executing
transactions. Each Transaction Server is a system process.

VALUES
The number of "TX Servers" is the number of Transaction Servers specified in the
VCT.

INTERPRETATION
The number of "TX Servers" should be adjusted up and down until the right number
is found to handle a particular Sun MTP system. Too many "TX Servers" waste system
resources, while too few cause user response time to increase since processes
won't be available to handle user requests. The latter situation is further
complicated by compute-bound applications.

CONCLUSIONS
When the "Message on Q" is consistently close to zero and the system executes
very quickly, you may consider decreasing the number of Transaction Servers to
free up memory and CPU contention.
