COBDIR (Environment)

DESCRIPTION
The value of the "COBDIR" environment variable tells the Micro Focus COBOL/2
system where to find the Micro Focus installation.

VALUES
The value of "COBDIR" should identify the full pathname of the directory where
the administrator has installed Micro Focus system.

INTERPRETATION
The Micro Focus system requires the value of "COBDIR" for both compilation and
runtime. Micro Focus uses "COBDIR" to locate the files needed to compile and
run COBOL programs.

CONCLUSIONS
Since Sun MTP relies on the Micro Focus compiler, the "COBDIR" environment
variable must be set before initiating a Sun MTP system in order for Sun MTP to
be able to compile and run COBOL programs. Refer to the Micro Focus installation
guide for details concerning the installation process and the importance of
"COBDIR".

Sun MTPScan displays the value of "COBDIR" as it is being used by a Sun MTP system.
Even with the system up and running, it does not mean that the value of the
environment variable is correct. If the system exhibits strange behavior,
examine the values of all environment variables on Sun MTPScan's Environment Screen
to ensure that the Sun MTP system has been told correctly where to look for the
components needed to execute a system.
