Items (DCT Extra, Intra)

DESCRIPTION
"Items" displays the number of items currently on a transient data (TD) queue.

VALUES
"Items" is a numeric quantity that fluctuates as the number of items on a TD
queue change due to WRITEQ TD and READQ TD requests from application programs.

INTERPRETATION
The number of "Items" changes as items go onto and come off a TD queue. The
value should change to reflect the expected usage of a particular TD queue. Pay
particular attention to a value for "Items" that does not change over time when
you know a queue should be active.

CONCLUSIONS
"Items" can be misleading because Sun MTPScan shows the "Items" at a particular
snapshot in time. For example, 50 records could be put on and taken from a TD
queue between Sun MTPScan updates. Due to this timing issue, the "Items" datapoint
cannot show that these records were on the queue.

Note that you can increase the accuracy of "Items" by making the Update Interval
for a Sun MTP system (with the Preferences on the Overview Screen) very small,
but this also increases the amount of overhead incurred by Sun MTPScan data
collection. Be sure to use "Read Time" and "Write Time" in conjunction with
"Items" to get a more accurate feel of a TD queue's activity.
