Filename (Dataset - Alt)

DESCRIPTION
"Filename" is the name of the system file that contains the alternate index
data. The Sun MTP File Control Table (FCT) maps a "Dataset" to a "Filename".

VALUES
The "Filename" value consists of one to fourteen characters. The "Filename" is
a standard system filename and follows the naming restrictions particular to
the system where it resides. Sun MTPScan obtains the "Filename" from the Sun MTP FCT.

INTERPRETATION
The full pathname of the physical file for a dataset contains three components.
Append the "Filename" and the extension for the alternate dataset's file to
the value of the "Environment". An alternate has extensions of .dta and .idx
for the data and index portions, respectively.

CONCLUSIONS
Since Sun MTP stores the name of the "Environment", not the value, it is very
easy to change the location of an alternate dataset's file without having to
reconfigure Sun MTP. To move an alternate index to a more efficient location,
just change the value of the "Environment" variable before initiating a Sun MTP
system. Neither the "Filename" nor the name of "Environment" has to change.
