Getting Started With Configuring Host Authentication


Configuring authentication on a host involves activating and defining authentication properties for the OCF server.

Before Configuring Authentication

You must have:

  1. Configured at least one card reader for the host.
  2. Activated card services on the host.
  3. Decided on the authentication mechanisms to be used at your site and the sequence in which each mechanism must occur. Refer to the Solaris Smart Cards Administration Guide for details.
  4. Determined which applications running on the host must be protected by smart card login. Refer to the Solaris Smart Card Administration Guide for details.

Tasks for Configuring Authentication

  1. Activating the authentication services to be used by the OCF server,as described in To Activate Authentication Services.
  2. Defining the default authentication mechanisms to be used by the OCF server, as defined in To Define the Default Authentication Mechanism for the OCF Server
  3. Defining the authentication mechanism and card to be used for each client application running on the host, as explained in Getting Started With Configuring Client Applications.
