Support WebCast: Internet Information Services: Configuring IIS Using the IIS Lockdown Tool and the URLScan Tool (817807)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services

Session Summary

NOTE: We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version 6.0 running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. All of the default security-related configuration settings in IIS 6.0 meet or exceed the security configuration settings made by the IIS Lockdown tool. Therefore, you do not need to run this tool on Web servers running IIS 6.0. However, if you are upgrading from a previous version of IIS, you should run the IIS Lockdown Tool before the upgrade to enhance the security of your Web server.

This Support WebCast will provide an overview for administrators about how they can use the Internet Information Services (IIS) Lockdown tool and the URLScan tool to configure Web servers. The WebCast will discuss installing, configuring, logging, and troubleshooting.

This is a Level 200 session that was recorded March 31, 2003 and presented by Vikas Malhotra. Vikas Malhotra is a Program Manager in the Internet Information Services group and focuses on security.
