Money: Changing the Way Currency Appears in Microsoft Money (76152)

SUMMARY

To change the way currency is displayed in Microsoft Money, you must change the settings from Control Panel in Microsoft Windows. This affects all Windows programs, not just Money.

Note In Microsoft Money 2003, on a Microsoft Windows XP computer, you do not have to make changes to the operating system.

Note Because there are several versions of Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Steps for Money 2003 or Later

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Currencies tab.
  3. Select the currency that you use on a regular basis, click Set as Base Currency , and then click Yes.
Money restarts with this currency as the base currency for your file. Your accounts that exist in Money retain their original currency.

Note To have Windows display and format your currency correctly, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Regional Settings, click the Currency tab, and then set your currency options.

In Microsoft Windows XP in Control Panel, double-click Regional and Language Options, and then click Currency. If you like the way the currency appears, click OK. If you want to change the way the currency appears, click Customize, and then click the Currency tab. Make any changes, click OK, and then click OK again to close.

To change the default currency for an account:
  1. On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Account List.
  2. Click the name of the account.
  3. In the left pane, click Change account details.
  4. In the Account currency box, select the currency associated with this account.
  5. Click Done.

Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows 98

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Regional Settings.
  3. Click the Currency tab.
  4. Specify the appropriate options. 
        Option:     Currency Symbol
    Specifies:  Which symbol identifies the currency of a particular
                region.

    Option:     Position Of Currency symbol
    Specifies:  Where the currency symbol appears in relation to currency
                value. A placeholder symbol represents the setting that is
                specified in the currency symbol box.

    Option:     Negative Number Format
    Specifies:  How Windows displays negative currency values. A place-
                holder symbol represents the setting that is specified in
                the currency symbol box.

    Option:     Decimal Symbol
    Specifies:  Which symbol separates units of currency.

    Option:     No. Of Digits After Decimal
    Specifies:  How many digits appear after the decimal symbol in a
                currency value.

    Option:     Digits Grouping Symbol
    Specifies:  The symbol that groups or separates the digits for large
                currency values.

    Option:     Number Of Digits in Group
    Specifies:  How many digits appear between digit grouping symbols.
