  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q278583

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as a Web page, and then view the presentation in your browser, the animations in the presentation may not be displayed as expected. This behavior also occurs when you view your presentation as a Web page.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Show slide animation while browsing check box in the Web Options dialog box is not selected.

By default, this check box is not selected so that when you view the Web presentation in a browser, all the objects on a slide will already be visible. Otherwise, when you view the slide in a browser, some of the objects may not appear until you click the slide image. This behavior occurs if the animations are set to On Click instead of With Previous or After Previous.

Also, the browser may not support all the animations that are supported in PowerPoint. For example, the following animations may not be displayed as expected in Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Compress
Faded Swivel
Flip
Float
Grow and Turn
Grow/Shrink
Light Speed
Pinwheel
Sling
Spinner
Stretch
Swish
Swivel
Whip

Note If you plan to view the presentation in a specific browser, make sure to preview the presentation with this browser, and then replace those animations that are not displayed as expected with other animations that are displayed correctly.

RESOLUTION

For Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 and for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003

To make sure that animation and transition effects in your presentation are viewable in a browser, follow these steps:
  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
  3. Click Web Options.
  4. On the General tab, click to select the Show slide animation while browsing check box.
  5. Click OK two times.
