     The enclosed media contains:

         Advanced Server V7.3A-ECO4 for OpenVMS

     Use the installation kit name ADVANCEDSERVER when using PRODUCT INSTALL.

     This kit supersedes all previous ECO releases of Advanced Server V7.3A for
     OpenVMS.

     Support for OpenVMS Alpha Systems
     ---------------------------------
     Advanced Server V7.3A-ECO4 for OpenVMS supports OpenVMS Alpha systems,
     Versions 8.2, 7.3-2 and 7.3-1. Standard Support for OpenVMS 7.3-1 ends on Dec 31, 2004.
     Support for OpenVMS V7.3 and V7.2-2 ended on June 30, 2004.

     The Advanced Server product has been updated in several areas. These updates may be found 
     in the Release Notes, ASOVMS073A_04073.RELEASE_NOTES.


     The following is a brief description of the updates that will be found in V7.3A ECO4

     - Support for OpenVMS Alpha V8.2  
     - Support for new RPC calls
     - Inclusion of 2 new Images for External Authentication on OpenVMS I64 V8.2
     - Improved performance for LANMAN and NT Style printing
     - Fix for Autodisconnect issue, Sessions get disconnected 	
     - Fix for NTLM V2 -Lmcompatibilitylevel issue
     - Fix for Winreg pipe leak issue
     - Fix for System crash in STREAMSOS 
     - Fix for PWRK$KNBDAEMON startup problems with Multinet V4
     - PWRK$LMSRV crash fixes.


     Please refer to your existing Server Installation and Configuration
     Guide for instructions on installing the Advanced Server for OpenVMS.

     Also, please  read the  on-line release  notes for other important
     notices regarding this release.

     Licensing Information
     ---------------------
     Advanced Server for OpenVMS requires that clients accessing
     server resources be appropriately licensed.

     You must use the Client Access license with the Advanced Server for
     OpenVMS software. The order numbers for the Client Access licenses are
     QM-5SUAA-A*. See the Software Product Description (SPD 30.50.xx)
     for a listing of all license options. The minimum license required to
     access Advanced Server V7.A3-ECO4 for OpenVMS services is the Client Access
     license PWLMXXXCA07.03.

     Note: All licenses with earlier versions must be upgraded. Upgrade licenses
     are available at a reduced cost.

     Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) for the Client Access licenses
     (PWLMXXXCA07.03) are fully supported only by the following
     software:

     o  Advanced Server for OpenVMS, V7.3 and V7.3A

     o  PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) V6.1

     o  PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (LAN Manager) V5.0F

        Customers using versions of PATHWORKS LAN Manager server prior
        to V5.0F and using licenses supported only by older versions
        are strongly encouraged to upgrade to V5.0F. Licenses supported
        by older versions of the server software are no longer offered.
        Only Client Access licenses are offered.

     Note: Some new OpenVMS Alpha servers include two new Client
     Access licenses to let you start using Advanced Server for
     OpenVMS or PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) software
     immediately.
