ECO NUMBER: ALPTTDR02_062 PRODUCT: OpenVMS Alpha OPERATING SYSTEM 6.2 UPDATE PRODUCT: OpenVMS Alpha OPERATING SYSTEM 6.2 COVER LETTER 1 KIT NAME: ALPTTDR02_062 2 KITS SUPERSEDED BY THIS KIT: ALPTTDR01_062 3 KIT DEPENDENCIES: 3.1 The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this, or any required kit: None. 3.2 In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: None. 4 KIT DESCRIPTION: 4.1 Version(s) of OpenVMS to which this kit may be applied: OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3 4.2 Files patched or replaced: o [SYS$LDR]SYS$TTDRIVER.EXE (new image) o [SYS$LDR]SYS$YSDRIVER.EXE (new image) 5 PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPTTDR02_062 KIT o Two class driver-related problems occurred: 1. While in pasthru mode, loss of synchronization with the class driver occurred during a high volume of single character burst transmits. The high volume of single character burst transmits occurs, for example, when pasting to a DECterm window that has been directed out to the serial port with a SET HOST/DTE. Consequently, the transmit FIFO buffer would overrun, -- COVER LETTER -- Page 2 5 February 1999 resulting in the loss of data. 2. Error bits were not cleared before a character was passed to the class driver. When a receive error (eg. parity error, framing error) was reported, the port driver (SYS$YSDRIVER) would fail to clear error bits in the register containing the received character before passing it to the class driver (SYS$TTDRIVER). The result would be a bugcheck at various points in the class driver. o When the driver SYS$TTDRIVER performed a QIO read function, an %SYSTEM-F-BADESCAPE exception occurred. This problem happened when an EUC Hankaku Katakana code was input using the REFLECTION terminal emulator via a LAT. 6 PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPTTDR01_062 KIT FOR OPENVMS ALPHA V6.2 ONLY o TTA0 baud rates below 600 (that is, 50, 75, 150, or 300) not working on ALPHASERVER 2100. 7 KIT INSTALLATION RATING: The following kit installation rating, based upon current CLD information, is provided to serve as a guide to which customers should apply this remedial kit. (Reference attached Disclaimer of Warranty and Limitation of Liability Statement) INSTALLATION RATING: INSTALL_3 : To be installed by customers experiencing the problems corrected. 8 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility by logging into the SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt: @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL ALPTTDR02_062 [location of the saveset] The saveset location may be a tape drive, CD, or a disk directory that contains the kit saveset. The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is rebooted. -- COVER LETTER -- Page 3 5 February 1999 If you have other nodes in your VMS cluster, they must also be rebooted in order to make use of the new image(s).
