If there is an I/O error then there is an attempt to remove the current Interrupt Request Packet (IRP). If there is a buffer associated with this IRP then the buffer is deallocated. The caller is returned and the IRP is untouched which makes that piece of memory unuseable until a system reboot is performed. The user might see this as a loss of nonpaged pool. Over a period of time this could exhaust the pool in the system. o The R9/R10 corruption will be seen in several different ways depending on how these registers are being used.
