4  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPOPDR04_062 KIT


      o  The ALPOPDR03_062 remedial kit  documentation  stated  that  it
         fixed  a  problem  regarding  OPDRIVER timeouts on Turbolasers.
         This problem is not fixed in the OPDRIVER remedial kits.  It is
         fixed by the ALPSYS09_062 (or supersedant) remedial kit.  There
         are no new fixes in  this  kit.   If  you  have  installed  the
         ALPOPDR03_062  remedial  kit,  you  do not need to install this
         kit.



5  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPOPDR03_062 KIT


      o  While trying to print a large file using DCPS  on  a  Dec  2000
         model 300, the system would hang.

      o  Operators at console see timeout errors under heavy usage.

6  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPOPDR02_062 KIT


      o  A paused  serial  terminal  console  in  a  cluster  can  cause
         software timeouts and ultimately cluster crashes.

         This problem is corrected in OpenVMS V7.0



7  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPOPDR01_062 KIT


      o  Occasionally when outputting to OPA1 a WRITE SYS$OUTPUT timeout
         will occur.



8  KIT INSTALLATION RATING:

     The following kit  installation  rating,  based  upon  current  CLD
     information,  is provided to serve as a guide as to which customers
     should apply this remedial kit.  (Reference attached Disclaimer  of
     Warranty and Limitation of Liability Statement)

     INSTALLATION RATING:

       INSTALL_3 : To be installed by customers experiencing the problems corrected.



9  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

     Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility  by  logging  into  the
     SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:

         @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL ALPOPDR04_062 [location of the saveset]

     The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory  that
     contains the kit saveset.

     System should be rebooted after successful installation of the kit.
     If  you  have  other  nodes in your VMScluster, they should also be
     rebooted in order to make use of the new image(s).
