5  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPCPU1603_062 KIT


      o  When booting an Alphaserver 4000/4100  over  a  newly  released
         console  (V5.2),  driver  calls  to  IOC$MAP_IO  may fail.  The
         driver will then be unable to touch its PCI registers and  will
         go off-line.

6  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPCPU1602_062 KIT


      o  Add support for the DE500-BA adapter and the  Gigabit  Ethernet
         adapter.

      o  The RACORE (Token Ring) adapter was never  supported  in  V6.2.
         The  supported  adapter,  Thomas Conrad (Token Ring adapter) is
         being phased out so this new adapter must be supported.



7  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPCPU1601_062 KIT


      o  The ALPCPU1601_071 remedial kit, which  applied  to  V6.2*  and
         V7.1  is  being reissued as two single version kits.  There are
         no  new  fixes  in  this  kit.   If  you  have  installed   the
         ALPCPU1601_071  remedial  kit  you  do not need to install this
         kit.



8  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPCPU1601_071 KIT FOR OPENVMS ALPHA V6.2*


      o  Allow the  use  of  mixed  EV5  and  EV6  CPUs  on  AlphaServer
         4000/4100 systems.

     information,  is  provided  to  serve as a guide to which customers
     should apply this remedial kit.  (Reference attached Disclaimer  of

       INSTALL_2 : To be installed by all customers using the following feature(s):

           AlphaServer 4000/4100 systems.



10  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

     Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility  by  logging  into  the
     SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:

         @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL ALPCPU1603_062 [location of the saveset]

     The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory  that
     contains the kit saveset.

     The images in this kit will not take effect  until  the  system  is
     rebooted.

     If you have other nodes in your VMS  cluster,  they  must  also  be
     rebooted  in  order  to make use of the new image(s).  If it is not
     possible or convenient to reboot the entire cluster at this time, a
     rolling re-boot may be performed.
