PRODUCT: OpenVMS VAX

COMPONENT: License Management Facility (LMF) - SYSLICENSE

SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation

ECO INFORMATION:

     ECO Kit Name: VAXSYS15_061
ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: VAXSYS11_061
                                           VAXSYS08_061
     ECO Kit Size: 90 Blocks
Kit Applies To: OpenVMS VAX V6.1
     System Reboot Necessary: Yes

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for SYSLICENSE.EXE on OpenVMS VAX V6.1. This kit
addresses the following problems:

Problems Addressed in the VAXSYS15_061 Kit:

o If the buffer overflows during a license check, the user will
not be able to make further use of the particular product that
is doing the license check until the process that got the
buffer overflow error is stopped. If that product is
OpenVMS, any process attempting to login will hang.

Problems Addressed in the VAXSYS11_061 Kit:

o System crashes with a SSRVEXCEPT bugcheck at EXE$GRANT_LICENSE+004BB.

Problems Addressed in the VAXSYS08_061 Kit:

o In non-paged pool, $GETLKI will allocate buffers 16 bytes
larger than the buffer size it was passed. If too many
users try to use a layered product, this allocation will
cause the system to crash with a bugcheck in an attempt to
allocate 0 bytes of non-paged pool.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system
must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VAXcluster, the
entire cluster should be rebooted.
