ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for the Monitor subsystem on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 through 
V7.1-1H2.  This kit addresses the following problems: 

  o  MONITOR/RECORD Fails with %MONITOR-E-ERRRECFIL

     When using the '/RECORD' option with MONITOR the following
     errors occur:

       %MONITOR-E-ERRRECFIL, error processing /RECORD file
       -PLI-F-UNDFILE, PL/I UNDEFINEDFILE condition on file 
       'RECORD_FILE'.
       -RMS-F-SYN, file specification syntax error

       %MONITOR-E-ERRRECFIL, error processing /RECORD file
       -PLI-F-UNDFILE, PL/I UNDEFINEDFILE condition on file 
       'RECORD_FILE'.
       -PLI-I-FILENAME, File name: '$DKA400:[K_GAMBLE]A.DAT;1'.
       -RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device 
       type for operation


  o  Make V6.2 and V7.1 MONITOR utility compatible with V7.2 MONITOR

     Trying to monitor a pre-V7.2 system from a V7.2 system or vice-versa 
     will result in the following error:

       $ monitor/node=quebit dis
       MONITOR-I-ESTABCON, establishing connection to remote node(s)...
       %MONITOR-E-ERRSYSINFO, failed to collect system information on 
       node QUEBIT
       -MONITOR-E-SRVMISMATCH, MONITOR server on remote node is an 
       incompatible version %MO 
    

INSTALLATION NOTES:

The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed.
However, if the system is a member of a VMScluster, the other cluster
members should be rebooted or this kit should be installed on each 
system in order to make use of the new image(s).
