NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.

the following remedial kits also need to be installed:

                 None

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for SYS$VM.EXE on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1, V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2
and V7.0. This kit addresses the following problems:

Problems addressed in ALPSYS08_070 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2, V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3, V7.0:

o There is a remote possibility that a system could experience a
PGFIPLHI crash. The crash is due to not enough system pages
being locked into the system working set. This is a result of
the number of pages that are locked/unlocked being calculated
     incorrectly.

This problem is more apt to be encountered after the installation
of the ALPF11X03_070 remedial kit or its supersedant.

Problems addressed in ALPSYS08_070 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2:

o The SYS$VM.EXE image for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 did not contain all
     the fixes that were required.

Problems addressed in ALPSYS07_070 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2:

o A system may crash with BADPAGFLD. This occurs if a process is
waiting in FPGW when a "free floating pagetable" is removed from
the working set. This causes R0 to be destroyed and the
pagefile deallocation routine is called with a bad parameter.

This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0.

Problems addressed in ALPSYS06_062 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.2,
  V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3:

o A system may crash with BADPAGFLD. This occurs if a process is
waiting in FPGW when a "free floating pagetable" is removed from
the working set. This causes R0 to be destroyed and the
pagefile deallocation routine is called with a bad parameter.

This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0.

Problems addressed in ALPSYS05_062 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2:

o INVEXCEPTN, INCONMMGST, and SECREFNEG bugchecks occur when
running heavy SMP loads. The INVEXCEPTN is in PAGEFAULT, at
a point where it is using a global page table entry.

This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V6.2

Problems addressed in ALPSYS05_062 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2, V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3:

o A BADPRCPGFLC bugcheck can occur in a long-running process.

This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0.

Problems addressed in ALPSYS02_070 kit:

o Under the rare conditions of this corruption, the system will
hang or crash trying to walk the COMO queues. The traditional
footprint has a KTB structure in the COLPG wait queue that has
been prematurely pulled out of its appropriate inswap COMO
queue. Along with this corruption, the SWAPPER will appear to
be CUR in a SHO SYS display, although no CPU in the
configuration recognizes it as the active thread.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system
must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the
entire cluster should be rebooted.
