|
TITLE: OpenVMS ALPMTAA01_070 Alpha V6.1; V7.0 MTAAACP ECO Summary
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

The ALPSHAD09_061 ECO Kit for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 systems
and this ALPMTAA01_070 ECO kit both contain the identical

OpenVMS Alpha V6.1.
ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for MTAAACP on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 and V7.0.
This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems addressed in the ALPMTAA01_070 kit for OpenVMS Alpha V7.0:
o MTAACP can hang during multivolume copy operations.
NOTE: According to OpenVMS Engineering, the fixes discussed
below have been included in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0. There
are some fixes that have been included in previous
versions of OpenVMS and those versions are specified in
text following the problem descriptions.
Problems addressed in the ALPMTAA01_062 kit:
o The system crashes with NOBVPVCB bugcheck when performing a test
for an empty queue with a DO_CANCEL function in ACPCTR.B32.
o The system crashes with an XQPERR bugcheck while dismounting a MAD
drive.
Problems addressed in the AXPMTAA01_061 kit:
o If a tape is initialized with a non-blank accessibility field and
then mounted using /OVERRIDE=(ACCESSIBILITY), the tape mounts but
cannot be read or written to. The command format to initialize
the tape would be similar to:
INIT/LABEL=VOLUME_ACCESSIBILITY="+" tape: LABEL
In addition, the following OPCOM messages are generated and the
tape volume is automatically unloaded after an attempt to WRITE
or READ the tape volume:
%%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 12-DEC-1994 12:57:23.53 %%%%%%%%%%% Message
from user USERXX on NODEXX non-blank accessibility field in
volume labels on SYS$DEVICE:
%%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 12-DEC-1994 12:57:23.54 %%%%%%%%%%%
o MTAAACP posts attention ASTs to its mailbox. If the AST
QUOTA reached zero and an attempt was made to kill the MTAAACP
process or the process that emitted the QIO, MTAAACP would go
into the RWAST state and hang.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed.
However, if you have other nodes in your VMScluster, they should be
rebooted or you should install this kit on each system in order to make
use of the new image(s).
