DOCUMENT:Q256291 25-JUN-2000 [sms] TITLE :SMS: Mandatory Advertisement Requiring Logged-On UserMay Not Run PRODUCT :Microsoft Systems Management Server PROD/VER:winnt:2.0,2.0 SP1 OPER/SYS: KEYWORDS:kbsms200 kbsms200bug kbsms200sp2fix ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Systems Management Server versions 2.0, 2.0 SP1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== When you advertise a mandatory advertisement that requires a user to be logged on to a Windows NT-based client computer with no user logged on, the advertisement may not run when a user logs on to the client computer. CAUSE ===== Advertisement Program Manager (APM) checks to see if a user is logged on to the client computer and returns a time-out value of 0 if no user is logged on. This eventually causes the advertisement to time out. Therefore, the mandatory advertisement does not run when a user logs on after this time-out period. RESOLUTION ========== To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Systems Management Server version 2.0.
