Service Pack 3 for Windows NT version 3.51 has been released in order to distribute the following new APIs. Current users of Service Pack 2 for Windows NT version 3.51 do not need to update to Service Pack 3 unless they are recommended or required to do so for applications which use these new APIs. [From the Service Pack 3 README.TXT] Winsock Enhancement ------------------- Two new APIs, AcceptEx() and GetAcceptExSockaddrs(), have been added to the Windows Sockets family. AcceptEx() provides a way to asynchronously accept a connection, obtain the local and remote addresses for the connection, and receive the first block of data, all within a single call. Directory Monitoring -------------------- One new API, ReadDirectoryChangesW(), has been added to enhance an application's ability to monitor directories. It allows an application to receive notification whenever a change occurs in a directory. These changes include filemodifications, renames, and deletions. Unlike FindFirstChangeNotification(), this API will return the full name of the affected file. Instructions for Decompressing Files ------------------------------------ SP3_351P.EXE is a self extracting archive file containing the U.S. Service Pack 3 for Windows NT 3.51 for computers using the Power PC processor. To extract the Service Pack copy the file to a directory on your hard drive and issue the command: SP3_351P.EXE -d Where is the destination directory for the service pack. If you wish to extract the service pack to the current directory, leave blank. After the service pack has been decompressed, run the UPDATE.EXE program to install the updated files. ** TO BE APPLIED TO VERSION 3.51 ONLY!! **
