DOCUMENT:Q158544 13-JUN-2001 [sna] TITLE :IBM Multiprotocol SDLC Adapter Not Work on HP Vectra XU 6/15 PRODUCT :Microsoft SNA Server PROD/VER:WINDOWS:2.0,2.1,2.11,2.11 SP1,3.0 OPER/SYS: KEYWORDS:kb3rdparty kbsetup ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft SNA Server, versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.11, 2.11 SP1, 3.0, on platform(s): - the operating system: Microsoft Windows NT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== Notes: - The information in this article has been tested by Microsoft running Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0. This has not been confirmed by Hewlett-Packard; however, they did conclude that the IBM MPA/A is not listed as a supported or tested device on their Vectra series computers. - The following assumes you have disabled SERIAL.SYS, parallel ports, and any COM ports that use interrupts that could cause conflicts when you use this card. After you configure an IBM Multiprotocol SDLC Adapter on a Hewlett-Packard Vectra XU 6/150 computer, the connection status may remain in an inactive state after you try to activate the service. CAUSE ===== RESOLUTION ========== Use a different SDLC card. Supported adapters can be found in the SNA Server Companion Product Catalog and in Isvcatal.doc in the \Collatrl\General directory on the SNA Server compact disc. The IBM and Hewlett-Packard products discussed here are manufactured by IBM and Hewlett-Packard Corporation respectably, vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products performance or reliability. MORE INFORMATION ================ If you run a DLC trace (linkmsg.trc), you will see an open link response (rsp) error 000A. This is a fatal LLC hardware error that is also reported in the application log of the event viewer. |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---------------------------------------------- 13:31:17.22 |0000007e.00000089 DLC 03020100->01000000 OPEN LINK REQUEST |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Header at address 01114E0C, 2 elements ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 0110B008 007A0028 05000000 01009500 <.....z.(......n.> |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Element at address 0160FD90, start 1, end 92 ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 534E4153 45525652 20205344 4C433220 |0000007e.00000089 DLC 20202020 00010101 01C1FF01 7530000A < .....A..u0..> |0000007e.00000089 DLC 03E80003 03E8FFFF 03E8FFFF 03E8001E <.Y...Y...Y...Y..> |0000007e.00000089 DLC 7530000A 03E8003C 03E8000F 03E8012C |0000007e.00000089 DLC 00000402 00000000 00000000 00000000 <................> |0000007e.00000089 DLC 00000000 00000000 00000000 <............ > |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Element at address 0160FC6C, start 1, end 1 ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 01 <. > |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---------------------------------------------- 13:31:17.23 |0000007e.00000089 DLC 01160100->03020100 OPEN LINK RSP ERROR |0000007e.00000089 DLC Err:000A |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Header at address 01114E0C, 2 elements ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 0310B008 007A000A 00020000 01009500 <.....z........n.> |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Element at address 0160FD90, start 1, end 92 ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 53444C43 32202020 2020534E 41534552 |0000007e.00000089 DLC 56522020 00010101 01C1FF01 7530000A |0000007e.00000089 DLC 03E80003 03E8FFFF 03E8FFFF 03E8001E <.Y...Y...Y...Y..> |0000007e.00000089 DLC 7530000A 03E8003C 03E8000F 03E8012C |0000007e.00000089 DLC 00000402 00000000 00000000 00000000 <................> |0000007e.00000089 DLC 00000000 00000000 00000000 <............ > |0000007e.00000089 DLC |0000007e.00000089 DLC ---- Element at address 0160FC6C, start 1, end 1 ---- |0000007e.00000089 DLC 01 <. > The following errors will be logged in the Event Viewer.
