A dupatch-based, Early Release Patch kit exists for Tru64 UNIX 4.0F that
contains solutions to the following problem(s):

  Patch 859.00 from the Tru64 UNIX 4.0F Patch Kit 7 (BL18) will not
  install on a Tru64 UNIX 4.0F system with NHD3 installed. Use of
  dupatch baselining will NOT resolve the problem.

  The patch installation problem:

        - will occur on the following software configurations:
                o 4.0F + NHD3 + 4.0F PK7 (BL18)
                o 4.0F + 4.0F PK5 (or earlier) + NHD3 + 4.0F PK7 (BL18)

        - will NOT occur on the following software configuration:
                o 4.0F + NHD3 + 4.0F PK6 (BL17) + 4.0F PK7 (BL18)

and a summary of each patch. Please read these documents prior to 
installing patches on your system.

The patches in this ERP kit will also be available in the next mainstream
patch kit - Tru64 UNIX 4.0F Patch Kit 8.


INSTALLATION NOTES:

Install this kit with the dupatch utility that is included in the patch
kit. You may need to baseline your system if you have manually changed
system files on your system. The dupatch utility provides the baselining
capability.


INSTALLATION PREREQUISITES:

You must have installed Tru64 UNIX 4.0F PK7 (BL18) prior to installing 
this Early Release Patch Kit.

	> <copy the kit to /tmp/CSPkit1>
	> tar -xpvf DUV40D13-C0044900-1285-20000328.tar
	> cd patch_kit
	> ./dupatch

  This patch enables 4.0F Patch Kit 7 (BL18) to install on systems
  that have NHD3 installed.

  You need to execute the script installed by this patch BEFORE you
  install 4.0F Patch Kit 7 (BL18).

  To execute the script, as root, do the following:

    > ./usr/sbin/fix_patch859

  If successful completion (no error messages), you can proceed with
  the installation of 4.0F PK7 (BL18).
