 Cover Letter for the Compaq Code Management System (CMS) for OpenVMS
 Alpha ECO Kit #1, V4.1-01.

 This cover letter is for ECO Kit #1 for Compaq CMS, a component of Compaq
 DECset, on OpenVMS Alpha. This Compaq CMS ECO kit may be installed on
 OpenVMS Alpha Systems, running DECset Version 12.4 or CMS Version 4.1.
 The saveset files, CMSAE01041.A and CMSAE01041.B, should be installed
 using the VMSINSTAL command.  This kit replaces the two executable files
 SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]CMS.EXE and SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]CMSSHR.EXE.


 ECO Kit CMSAE01041 Description
 ------------------------------

 This ECO kit contains thirteen fixes to Compaq CMS for OpenVMS Alpha:


  1.  Require Ref Copy to be on ODS-5 disk only if extended_filenames
      attribute set on library"

  2.  Correct CMS_PEAK_UTILIZATION"

  3.  Expand on description of /ID qualifier in CMS$DW_HELP.HLP

  4.  Correct error in sequence number generation"

  5.  Correction applied when /SENTINEL caused differences to be reported for
      identical files"

  6.  Correct the error that caused Alpha ACCVIO and VAX STR-F-ILLSTRCLA when
      at least the merged generations had been changed more than once since
      the common ancestor

  7.  Remove the restriction on directory tree depth,

  8.  Correction applied when a directory  TOOLONG message fao_param is
      displayed

  9.  In cms$$ele_get_subdir_name() , increase FAO buffer size from 256 to 512

 10.  Remove  unused Literal k_max_dir_size

 11.  Correction for MODIFY/NAME, don't delete the old file if errors occurred
      during the creation of the new file"

 12.  Change compare of reference library spec and CMS$LIB to an exact match

 13.  Correction made for fetching an indexed file to a remote DECnet node


 All these fixes are planned for integration with DECset Version 12.5 and
 Compaq CMS Version 4.2.

 Installation Overview
 ---------------------

 This Compaq CMS ECO kit may be installed on OpenVMS Alpha Systems, running
 DECset Version 12.4 or CMS Version 4.1.  The saveset files, CMSAE01041.A
 and CMSAE01041.B, should be installed using the VMSINSTAL command.

 The ECO kit can be installed with the VMSINSTAL command procedure, as
 outlined in Chapter 3 of the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual: Essentials
 (AA-PV5MK-TK).

 Install the Compaq CMS ECO kit:

     $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL CMSAE01041 <device_name> <options>
