4  PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ALPRTPA01_062 KIT


      o  Memory leak in nonpaged pool.  If there is an  I/O  error  then
         there  is  an  attempt  to remove the current Interrupt Request
         Packet (IRP).  If there is a buffer associated  with  this  IRP
         then the buffer is deallocated.  The caller is returned and the
         IRP is untouched which makes that  piece  of  memory  unuseable
         until a system reboot is performed.  The user might see this as
         a loss of nonpaged pool.  Over a  period  of  time  this  could
         exhaust the pool in the system.

      o  The R9/R10 corruption will be seen in  several  different  ways
         depending  on  how  these registers are being used.  The result
         could be a process hang or system crash.

6  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

     Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility  by  logging  into  the
     SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:

         @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL ALPRTPA01_062 [location of the saveset]

     The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory  that
     contains the kit saveset.

     System should be rebooted after successful installation of the kit.
     If  you  have  other  nodes in your VMScluster, they should also be
     rebooted in order to make use of the new image(s).
