This patch corrects a problem with the (un)compress utility which could
result in either an incomplete compressed file and loss of the original
uncompressed file, or an incomplete uncompressed file and loss of the
original compressed file.

This problem occurs mostly in situations where the output file would exceed
the capacity of the output volume.
