ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for Digital OSF/1 V2.0 - 3.2C. This kit addresses the 
following problem: 

       A potential security vulnerability has been identified with
       dxconsole for OSF/1. This potential vulnerability may allow 
       users to gain unauthorized privileges. This kit, containing 
       new binaries that corrects this problem.


INSTALLATION NOTES:

This patch is a compressed tar image containing replacement module(s) for
dxconsole. You will want to save the current versions of dxconsole before
installing the new, patched version(s).

The patches are for V2.*-*, V3.0, V3.0b, V3.2, V3.2b, V3.2c 

Once uncompressed the following files are available:

To install do the following:
 # cd patches
 # zcat SSRT0358_OSF1032C.tar.Z | tar xvf -
 # cd /usr/bin/X11
 # cp /patches/{appropriate version} dxconsole.new
 # chown root:bin dxconsole.new
 # chmod 4755 dxconsole.new
 # ln dxconsole dxconsole.orig
 # mv dxconsole.new dxconsole
 # ln xconsole xconsole.orig
 # ln -f dxconsole xconsole
