ECO NUMBER: SMFSE02012 ----------- PRODUCT: POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem for OpenVMS -------- UPDATED PRODUCT: POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem for OpenVMS 1.2 ---------------- APPRX BLCK SIZE: 765 ---------------- COVER LETTER DIGITAL Cover Letter for POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem for OpenVMS ECO Kit #2, V1.2-2 Problem Description ------------------- This ECO kit is cumulative and includes fixes first released in ECO Kit #1, V1.2-1. The POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem Release Notes contains a complete explanation of the fixes that will be applied. Below is a brief description of each of them: - Under certain rare circumstances with a heavy load, a file may be created at the beginning of a tape rather than at the end of the tape, resulting in the loss of the files which were previously on the tape. - If end-of-tape is reached while writing a file on a drive which is in a robotic jukebox, SMFS may request that a tape which is outside of the jukebox be loaded in the drive. - DCSC (StorageTek robotics) drives are not properly deallocated after file operations. Eventually all drives will become allocated to the SMFS ACP process, until the MX device is dismounted and remounted. Installation Overview --------------------- Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility by logging into the SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt: @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL SMFSE02012 [location of the saveset] The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory that contains the kit saveset. After installation all SMFS devices (MXcu: devices) must be dismounted and remounted. Copyright Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All Rights reserved.
