FMS DECFMSECO5024 FMS V2.4 OpenVMS Alpha ECO Summary
TITLE: FMS DECFMSECO5024 FMS V2.4 OpenVMS Alpha ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.

For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset
file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or
kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS
saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed
saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe.

For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system,
rename the PCSI file to kitname.pcsi-dcx_axpexe or
kitname.pcsi-dcx_vaxexe, then it can be expanded by typing
       RUN kitname.pcsi-dcx_axpexe or kitname.pcsi-dcx_vaxexe. The
resultant file will be the PCSI installation file which can be
       used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for DEC FMS V2.4 for OpenVMS AXP on OpenVMS Alpha V1.0
through V7.3. This kit addresses the following problems:

PROBLEMS ADRESSED IN DECFMSECO5024:

  o Added Euro Symbol support
o Installation error message when compiling sample files has been
     corrected
  o FDV$DEBUG logging action re-enabled
o Problem caused by reinstalling product on existing installation has
     been removed.

o This ECO also incorporates all of the fixes in previous ECO releases that
relate to the FDVSHR.EXE and FMSFED.EXE images.

PROBLEMS ADRESSED IN FMSAXPECO04024:

o A call to FDV$$DWKSP sometimes corrupts the list of remaining
workspaces. This has now been corrected.

o The FMS editor would not alternate between 80 and 132 column width.

This ECO also incorporates all of the fixes in previous ECO releases that
relate to the FDVSHR.EXE and FMSFED.EXE images.

PROBLEMS ADRESSED IN FMSAXPECO03024:

o When loading a form whose field index is greater than 255 into the
     FMS editor an ACCVIO occurred.

This ECO also incorporates all of the fixes in previous ECO releases. Below
is a brief description of each of them:

Problems Addressed by FMSECO02024:

o On an OpenVMS Alpha SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) machine,
an ACCVIO sometimes occurs during various FMS calls that
perform input or output to the terminal. This includes the
FDV$GET-type and FDV$PUT-type calls as well as calls that set
     terminal characteristics such as FDV$SPADA.

         NOTE:

This problem is corrected in the FDVSHR.EXE image
         included in this ECO.

Problems Addressed by FMSECO01024:

o If there are more than 75 fields in a form, the LINK-W-ILLRECTYP
error would appear when linking the form.

o On an OpenVMS AXP SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) machine,
after editing a form a number of times, an ACCVIO would occur
     upon exiting the editing session.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility by logging into the
SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:

@SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL DECFMSECO5024 [location of the saveset]

The ECO kit checks to ensure that a valid license is installed before
proceeding. If one is not found, the installation aborts.
