PRODUCT: BASEstar Open Server for OpenVMS Alpha
BASEstar Open Client for OpenVMS Alpha

OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha, Version 6.1

SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation

ECO INFORMATION:

     ECO Kit Name: BSTROVAECO01020
ECO Kit Approximate Size: BSTROVAECO01020.A - 7218 Blocks

Kit Applies To: BASEstar Open Server for OpenVMS Alpha
BASEstar Open Client for OpenVMS Alpha

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for BASEstar Open Server for OpenVMS Alpha and BASEstar Open
Client for OpenVMS Alpha. This kit addresses the following problems:

o Fixed a problem in gom_server.exe. When it loads into the LNS
database an object whose attributes, after having been
translated in the form of an ASCII string, exceed 1024 bytes,
some data are lost. The gom_server returns the BASEstar
          error : E-BSTR_S_GOM_UPDATE_ERR.

o Fixed a problem in evm_server.exe, which returns the following
	  message
                EVM_SERVER: Exception Status: exc_s_illaddr.
The error is due to an incorrect handling of the trace interface.

o Fixed a problem im ams_server.exe. The "execute actor" command
can randomly take a lot of time or be very fast, while running
	  the same configuration.

o Fixed problems in dtm_server.exe when Mercury is used to connect
BASEstar Classic device access software. Dtm_server.exe aborts
its activity in case of a wrong message, causing a dtm_server.exe
	  hang.

o Fixed a problem in bstr__asynchronous_request_wait(), which does
not handle properly the "timeout" argument. Sometimes the function
returns the BSTR_S_TIMEOUT status although the timeout has not
	  actually expired yet.

o Added code to avoid, where it is possible, the error
F-BSTR_S_COM_CREATE_FAIL when $TRLNM fails in the Communication
	  Library.

o Increased the value of number of unsolicited massages that
          a DVM SAP can receive.

o Fixed a problem in reporting error in the Communication Enabler
process. In case of "No LCPI port found" error, the Communication
Enabler crashes after reporting the error.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

THE KIT WILL CAUSE THE TARGET SYSTEM TO NEED ALL BASEstar REALM SHUTTING
BEFORE THE INSTALLED IMAGES BECOME ACTIVE. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT MANDATORY,
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SHUT ALL THE BASEstar REALMS BEFORE INSTALLING.
THE NEXT BASEstar STARTUP WILL MAKE THE CHANGES EFFECTIVE.
