HP Services Software Patches - alprtpa01_061

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.

Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for CTDRIVER.EXE on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 through
V6.1-1H2. This kit addresses the following problems:

Problems Addressed in the ALPRTPA01_061 Kit:

o If there is an I/O error, then there is an attempt to remove the
current Interrupt Request Packet (IRP). If there is a buffer
associated with this IRP, then the buffer is deallocated. But,
before the IRP itself is removed, the caller is returned and the IRP
is left hanging. The user might see this as a loss of nonpaged
pool. Over a period of time this could exhaust the pool in the
     system.

o The user will see this in several different ways depending on how
the registers R9 and/or R10 are being used. The result could be a
     process hang or system crash.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system must
be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the entire
cluster should be rebooted.
