HP Services Software Patches - alpdriv13_061

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.

Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO Kit Approximate Size: 667 Blocks
Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V6.1, V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2
     System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes

Engineering Note:

If you have not previously installed the ALPDRIV10_061 kit and are
installing the ALPDRIV13_061 on an Alphaserver 2100 system, you
should also install the ALPSCSI04_061 kit. If you have previously
installed the ALPDRIV10_061 kit, you do not need to install the
ALPDRIV13_061 kit (see problem description for further
     explanation).

CSC NOTE: It is possible that installation of this ECO kit may
appear to cause a system to fail to boot. The system
may either have an access violation or display the
           following error:

             %SYSINIT-F-LOADERR,error loading RMS.EXE status=00000044

If this occurs, installation of the ALPBOOT05_061 ECO
kit will be necessary in order for the system to reboot.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 - V6.1-1H2. This kit addresses
the following problems:

Problems addressed in ALPDRIV13_061:

o All SCSI drivers are being consolidated into a separate Alpha
SCSI kit. Since SYS$PKEDRIVER.EXE and SYS$PKTDRIVER.EXE are
SCSI drivers, they are being removed from the ALPDRIV10_061
kit and re-issued in the ALPSCSI04_061 kit. There are no new
fixes in this kit. If you have previously installed the
ALPDRIV10_061 kit you do not need to install the ALPDRIV13_061
     kit.

Remedial kit ALPDRIV10_061 contained fixes for several
problems related to the Alphaserver 2100 system. If you are
installing the ALPDRIV13_061 on an Alphaserver 2100 system you
should also install the ALPSCSI04_061 remedial kit.

o The ALPDRIV10_061 and ALPCPU904_062 remedial kits both contain
the V6.1R, SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_0902.EXE image. This kit eliminates
     the duplication.

Problems addressed in ALPDRIV10_061:

o Update the SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_0902.EXE image to keep it current
with the ALPCPU902_062 remedial kit. There are no new problem
     fixes in this kit.

Problems addressed in AXPDRIV08_061:

o The system may crash due to parity errors in SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_0902
     which cause memory corruption.

Problems addressed in the AXPDRIV06_061 kit:

o The AXPDRIV02_061 and AXPDECW01_061 kits addressed common
problems but there were image conflicts between the two kits.
This kit combines the superseded kits and eliminates the
     documentation and image problems.

Problems Addressed in the AXPDRIV02_061 Kit:

o The LK411 rev B01 keyboard is not recognized by the device
driver, and certain keys (function keys, editing keys) fail to
     function, or function incorrectly.

NOTE: This problem was incorrectly documented to be fixed by
the AXPDRIV02_061 kit. However, this problem was actually
corrected by the AXPDECW01_061 kit as noted in the
            AXPDECW01_061 kit documentation.

As discussed in the previous section, the images from
AXPDRIV02_061 and AXPDECW01_061 were combined into the
AXPDRIV06_061 kit to eliminate this confusion.

o Some DEC 2100 A500MP (Sable) systems have been found halted with
the message, "machine check in PALmode". It is not possible to
obtain a crash dump of this problem.

o The Compaq QVision 1024/EISA card is in critically low supply due
to an ASIC supply problem. This patch kit adds support for the
Compaq Qvision 1280i (isa), 1280e (EISA), and 1280p (PCI) Qvision
modules, which are being used as substitute modules for the
1024/EISA. The 1280 modules are identical in functionality to
     the 1024 module.

Sable console must be upgraded to V3.6 prior to installing the
     1280i,1280e or 1280p modules.

Problems Addressed in the AXPDECW01_061 Kit:

o LK411 keyboards (REV B01) shipping with 2100 Server systems do
not function correctly. The keyboard is not recognized as an
LK450/411 and, as a result, the keyboard is treated as a PC
keyboard. Eight of the function keys do not work correctly,
two of the main array keys generate incorrect codes, one of
the keypad keys is inoperative, and the editing keys are in
     the wrong positions.

Problems Addressed in ALPCPU902_062 for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1,
  V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2:

o Intermittent system failures may occur due to the incorrect handling
of a correctable memory error. The failure appears as an INVEXCEPTN
     crash.

o A system crash may occur during an attempt to queue a lock request
against an associated resource. The crash occurs due to a corrupt
     R0 register.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system
must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the
entire cluster should be rebooted.
