PRODUCT: DEC Open3D V2.2 for OpenVMS AXP

OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha

SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation

NOTE: The image PCM$SERVER contained in this ECO was incorrectly
linked against OpenVMS AXP V6.1. Therefore, the following
error will be returned when a "RUN PCM$SERVER" is
            executed.

               %DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image LIBOTS
               -CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file
                   SCRLET$DKA300:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]LIBOTS.EXE
-SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, ident mismatch with shareable image

            To workaround this problem,

o the PCM subset should NOT be selected when this ECO is
               installed

            or

o after installing this ECO, the newly installed
               SYS$SYSTEM:PCM$SERVER image should be deleted.

The image from the original DEC Open3D V2.2 for DEC
OpenVMS AXP product should be used.

DEC Open3D V2.2 for DEC OpenVMS AXP

NOTE: OpenVMS Alpha V1.5-1H1 is only required
for the use of the ZLX graphic
accelerators. If you have a PXG graphics
accelerator or an HX board, then the kit
can be installed on OpenVMS AXP V1.5.

System Reboot Necessary: If the system is a Workstation with
a 3D graphics card installed, it will
need to be rebooted. Otherwise, it
                               will not.

NOTE: In addition to the problems described below, other minor
problems have been corrected with this kit. All systems
running DEC Open3D V2.2 be should be updated with this
            ECO kit.

For more information describing this ECO kit, please see
the OPEN3D022.RELEASE_NOTES contained in the kit.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for DEC Open3D V2.2 on OpenVMS Alpha V1.5 through
V1.5-1H1. This kit addresses the following problems:

     o Server crash on end-session on ZLX-E1 on DEC 3000 Model 300
        and DEC 3000 Model 500.

o On systems with ZLX-M graphics options, windows with large
negative coordinates were being incorrectly mapped. This
resulted in some application programs' icons not being
        displayed correctly.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

If the system is a Workstation with a 3D graphics card, the system will
need to be rebooted. Otherwise, the system does not need to be rebooted,
but the DECwindows server must be started with the following command:

     @SYS$STARTUP:DECW$STARTUP RESTART
