ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for DECmessageQ for OpenVMS V3.0A on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2
through V6.2 or OpenVMS AXP V1.5 through 6.2. The kit addresses the
following problems:
The DECmessageQ for OpenVMS ECO Release Notes contain a complete
explanation of the following ECOs applied by this kit:
ECO # Description/Symptoms

ECO 3035 Corrected a problem which caused the target
presentation limit for queues with a Msg Pool Quota
less than 100 to get set to zero (0).
ECO 3036 Corrected a problem where the MRS Server failed to
reload a SAF file on startup. The failure occurred
when the MRS Server attempted to validate the last
message in the SAF file and failed because the record
had been marked deleted.
ECO 3042 Corrected a problem where increasing the MRS AREA_SIZE
during DQF/SAF processing sometimes resulted in MRS
Server "running off" the end of the file.
ECO 3048 Corrected a problem in which the MRS Server was not
always recognizing the LINK LOST message when the link
to a V1.0 recovery protocol system (pre V3.x) was lost.
ECO 3049 Corrected a performance problem for recoverable message
flow. The dynamic allocation of DQF and SAF journal files
under V3.0 resulted in a decrease in MRS Server
performance. A number of logicals have been added to
allow the user to tune the recoverable journals (DQF &
SAF) for performance purposes.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
To install this ECO kit, you must have DECmessageQ for OpenVMS
Version 3.0A installed on your system. Before installing the
ECO kit, you must shutdown all DECmessageQ groups using the
deinstall RTLs option of the DMQ$SHUTDOWN command. If DECmessageQ
is not shutdown, the installation will attempt to shut down
all groups and abort if it is unsuccessful.
The ECO kit is installed using the VMSINSTAL command procedure,
as outlined in Chapter 3 of the VMS System Manager's Manual
(AA-LA00A-TE).
The ECO kit verifies whether DECmessageQ for OpenVMS Version 3.0A
is installed before proceeding. If DECmessageQ V3.0A is not found,
the ECO kit will re-ask the DECmessageQ disk question until you
abort the installation by typing control-Y.
The ECO kit installation procedure automatically determines the
DECmessageQ kit type and options and applies the appropriate patches.
It changes the image ID of the COM Server image, as well
as the version number displayed in the DMQ$MENU command procedure,
to "V3.0A-49(3049)". For a complete list of image ID changes, please
refer to the ECO Release Notes.
Installing the DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX V3.0A ECO Kit
--------------------------------------------------------
1. Verify that DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX V3.0A is on the system:
$ DIR [DMQ$V30.EXE]
2. Shutdown all the DECmessageQ groups using the kit to be patched:
$ @DMQ$EXE:DMQ$SHUTDOWN bbbb ggggg YES
3. Install the DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX V3.0A ECO kit:
$ SET DEFAULT SYS$UPDATE
$ @VMSINSTAL DMQECO1030A
