OP/SYS:     OpenVMS AXP

COMPONENT:  Print Symbiont
            PRTSMB.EXE
            SMBSRVSHR.EXE

SOURCE:     Digital Equipment Corporation

ECO INFORMATION:

     ECO Kit Name:  AXPPRTS02_015
     ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: AXPPRNT01_015 (CSCPAT_2020)
     ECO Kit Approximate Size: 400 Blocks
     Kit Applies To: OpenVMS AXP V1.5, V1.5-1H1
     System Reboot Necessary:  No

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for the Print Symbiont on OpenVMS AXP V1.5 through
V1.5-1H1. This kit addresses the following problems:

Problems addressed in the AXPPRTS02_015 kit:

  o Sporadically the queue manager signals an unexpected symbiont
    process termination and an access violation. For example,

       %%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 21-JAN-1994 09:36:40.06 %%%%%%%%%%%

       Message from user QUEUE_MANAGE on XXXXX

       %QMAN-E-SYMDEL, unexpected symbiont process termination

       %%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 21-JAN-1994 09:36:40.09 %%%%%%%%%%%

       Message from user QUEUE_MANAGE on XXXXX

       -SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual

       address=00000000,

       PC=0001A540, PSL=03C00000

    The access violations cause all queues managed by the symbiont
    to stop. Examination of the ACCVIO PC and symbiont dump file
    shows the ACCVIO occurred in an OpenVMS Librarian run-time
    library routine (LBRSHR).

Problems addressed in the AXPPRNT01_015 kit:

  o Printing a file with the /PASSALL qualifier generates corrupt
     output. The corruption appears as repetition of characters
     in the output stream.
