  This directory does not contain the sort of media you watch or listen to. It
  contains mostly operating system installation media images.

  /private/Media/Official and /private/Media/Unofficial mostly contain
  proprietary software. For some unusual reason it is not legal to redistribute
  the contents of these directories - even though you require a license to use
  any of it. Either way, you should only download anything from here if you
  actually have a license for it.

  You can get free non-commercial licenses for Digital(HP/Compaq) OpenVMS from
  http://www.openvmshobbyist.org/

  At one time, HP (and Compaq before it) sold non-commercial Tru64 licenses
  and media kits. While these have been discontinued a number of people have
  been able to get left over stock for free. Ask and you might be able to get
  a kit sent to you.

  The media archive is split in to three sets:
    Official:   These images were taken off official media by me and have not
                been modified in any way.
    Unofficial: These have been downloaded from various locations such as P2P
                networks. There is no guarantee that these are safe or that
                they even work. For all I know they could be pre-loaded with
                trojans, viruses, etc.
    linux:      Linux install ISOs for a variety of distros and platforms. These
                are all free to redistribute. Some of these will be fairly out
                of date however. They should probably be moved into /pub
                someday but for now it all lives with the private media archive.

  There will be no duplication between the sets. If I add an image for
  Windows NT Server 3.51 to the official set all of the unofficial ones will
  be removed.
