The ETL public domain fonts
support about 1000 characters of the Universal Character Set (UCS).
Additional
composite fonts for UTF-8 locales are created by the
libfr_FGC
font renderer from fonts that are available for the ISO 8859-1 and ISO
8859-15 codesets.
Neither the ETL fonts nor those for Latin-1 and Latin-9
encoding support Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters.
Characters in these
Asian languages are supported by converting UTF-8 encoding to an encoding
for which fonts are available.
