xplanet-0.90: description + notes

xplanet was inspired by xearth, which renders an image of the earth into the X root window. Azimuthal, Mercator, Mollweide, orthographic, or rectangular projections can be shown as well as a window with a globe the user can rotate interactively. The other planets and some satellites may also be displayed. As a quick example try "xplanet -markers -moon -w".

The Xplanet home page has more information, including a FAQ, screen shots, locations to get more images, examples, etc.

Note that xplanet does not set the _SGI_ROOTPAINTER_ID property, and thus it's root mode will be useless if you have custom backgrounds enabled.
