The amber LED is controlled by the backplane (for internal physical drives)
or enclosure (for external physical drives). ServeRAID controllers send commands
to the backplane or enclosure processor to set a logical state for the LED,
and the subsystem translates that LED state into the following flash states:
ServeRAID drive state | Drive slot state | Amber LED flash state |
Defunct | Device is faulty | On |
Rebuilding | Device is rebuilding | Slow flash |
Identify | Identify the device | Fast flash |
Other | No error | Off |
The green LED is an activity indicator for the physical drive and is controlled by the physical drive.
