Changing the initialization settings

In the "User preferences" window, you can change the initialization settings.

Initializing a logical drive erases the first 1024 sectors on the drive and prevents access to any data previously stored on the drive. The default setting is checked. When this setting is enabled, the ServeRAID Manager automatically initializes each new logical drive and prevents access to the manual initialization function.

  1. Click the Initialization settings tab.

  2. Select the check box to enable or disable automatic initialization of logical drives.

Attention: If you deselect (disable) automatic initialization, the ServeRAID Manager will not initialize each logical drive (by writing zeros to the first 1024 sectors of the logical drive) when it is created. You must still initialize all newly defined logical drives before storing data.

  3. Click OK.
