details
Overview:
ISCSI package Version 1.06.05 for NetWare 6.5
System Requirements:
NetWare 6.5 SP7 or above
Installation:
Follow these steps to install/unzip the ISCSIPKG.ZIP
1. Shut down ISCSI Initiator by typing "IOFF.NCF".
*Note: This will disconnect initiator from all Target devices.
2. Copy the ISCSIPKG.ZIP file to the root of the NetWare server (SYS:\).
3. Unzip the ISCSIPKG.ZIP file by typing at console "UNZIP -o SYS:\ISCSIPKG.ZIP ".
The ISCSI files will be placed in the correct directories when the package is unzipped.
4. Start ISCSI by executing the following NCF file "ION.NCF".
5. Reconnect to any Target Devices previously connected.
Note: Update does include the ISCSI Target software but was not updated in this release.
To load / unload ISCSI Target software use the following NCF files. TON.NCF / TOFF.NCF
Uninstalling:
Install previous ISCSIPKG.ZIP file from previous support pack.
Known Problems and Limitations:
OES 2 SP1:Readme -3.10 iSCSI Issues
Technical Support Information:
Changes since SP8
- Initiator loses connection to Equallogic Target (2 Nics) when 1 Nic is unplugged or threshold is hit to enforce load balancing algorithm on the Target device. Problem was with the loadCount being incorrectly incremented during async_logout_phase and was not reconnecting properly. Bug 450683
- Fixed an Abend: Attempt to release an unacquired spinlock. Bug 461694
Changes were made in SP8 (Version 1.06.05) of ISCSI to help with performance issues.
Performance tuning parameters:
Connection Queue Depth is a new parameter which defines how many outstanding I/O it can potentially have pending to the ISCSI Target SAN device. There are some limiting factors depending on the SAN vendor and what's negotiated. In testing we haven't found increasing this above 64 to really make much of a difference but can be increased for personal testing.
iscsinit reg set Connection Queue Depth=128 (Default: 64)
iscsinit reg list (will display the setting in the registry)
