abstract
Updated OpenWBEM / CIMOM suite for NetWare 6.5 SP8.
details
Overview:
Updated OWCIMOMD.NLM to address an issue seen on BCC where it's provider would not unload when trying to manually unload OWCIMOMD.NLM.
System Requirements:
NetWare 6.5 SP6 or above
Installation:
Follow these steps to install/unzip the cimom.zip package
1. Shut down the owcimomd by typing "UNLOAD OWCIMOMD".
2. Copy the cimom.zip file to the root of the Netware server (SYS:\).
3. Unzip the cimom.zip file by typing at console "UNZIP -o SYS:\CIMOM.ZIP".
The cimom files will be placed in the correct directories when the file is unzipped.
4. Start OWCIMOMD by executing the following NCF file "OPENWBEM.NCF".
Uninstalling:
Install older package on top
Known Problems and Limitations:
Installing on BCC cluster nodes hosting the Master IP Resource. It would be recommended to install on other cluster nodes first and then reboot node hosting Master IP resource which will force the Master to move to another node in the cluster and then install the CIMOM update.
Technical Support Information:
SYMPTOM:
On BCC a CIMOM provider is used to maintain a peer to peer connection with the other cluster. The provider name is LIBNOVELLBUSINESSCONTINUITYCLUSTERPROVIDER.NLM and is loaded on the node hosting the Master IP resource. There was a deadlock condition while trying to manually unload OWCIMOMD.NLM from the console as it would try to unload it's providers.
RESOLUTION:
An unload event handler has been added to properly handle unloading of OWCIMOMD.NLM.
